[Micro-Review] Series: Stranger Things: Season 2 (2017)

Title: Stranger Things: Season 2

No. of Episodes: 9

Release Date: 27 October 2017

Storyline:

This thrilling Netflix original drama stars Golden Globe-winning actress Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, who lives in a small Indiana town in 1983 — inspired by a time when tales of science fiction captivated audiences. When Joyce’s 12-year-old son, Will, goes missing, she launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance with local authorities. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl.

Continuing their adventure from the first season, Stranger Things Season 2 coming off strong with better character development for the kids and also for Joyce and Hopper. I especially like El’s (Millie Bobby Brown) development here, she’s getting more mature and ready to live socially.

However, best character development here I should say was Steve Harrington (Joe Keery). He really deserve the best babysitter of the year award.

Meanwhile, the addition of new characters like Max (Sadie Sink) and Billy (Dacre Montgomery) even Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) does not really affect the story just like Rose in The Last Jedi. Sure they create emotional value for the main characters, but if they were completely erased I personally think the storyline would not change that much. With an exception for Bob who directly help the main characters to help figure out the mysteries.

Move aside to the main course, the horrors! I was expecting the giant demogorgon from the stills and multiple references on the series itself.

But guess what do I got?

Yep, a lot of demo-dogs.

Don’t judge me, I love dogs. The normal one. Not the one that doesn’t have eyes and mouth opens in 4 ways, hell no.

For me this season’s horror lacks the suspense the first season has. It was only one but each episode makes your heart beating faster the whole 50 minute show.

Final Score: 8.7/10
